Battle of Polls between AKP and CHP

Following AKP chair & President Erdoğan's comments that he does not find polling agencies credible, main opposition CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu said "there is a very basic reason behind this, and that is he also realizes he is losing but can not digest this fact."

Regarding the ongoing discussion on credibility of polls, AKP chair & President Erdoğan had referred to failure of polling agencies in predicting the results of June 24, 2018 elections in Turkey when the outcome had been widely different than most of the polls conducted in the weeks before elections. Republican People's Party CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said "whether you may like it or not, the people will express their opinion and you may trust that or find it not credible." In addition Kılıçdaroğlu said "the President has announced that he does not trust the polls and the basic reason behind this is that he realizes he is losing as well, but he is unable to digest. Yet he will have to digest, he will have to accept the facts. Here is the problem, Erdoğan suffered a reputation loss, he does not realize it." DETACHED FROM THE FACTS CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu also continued to say "Erdoğan is not the old Erdoğan any more. When he would visit Istanbul or live in Ankara he would stay in modest apartments or houses. He used to say 'I am a man of the people and will live like the people do' but now he has retreated into the Palace and detached himself from the facts of the people. He does not realize this. He is sitting in the palace and from hundreds of meters waves at the people from the Palace's balcony. What democracy has waving from hundreds of meters behind an army of bodyguards? He has assumed all powers; he has taken on all the powers that we have won through Republic. Yet this authority was given to the Parliament by the people during Republic." AKP CRITICIZES POLL RESULTS Governing Justice & Development Party AKP's vice-chair Mahir Ünal criticized the polls and predictions only a month before the elections. Ünal said "in 2014 there would emerge a psychology of the electorate and this would not change until the elections. Then something happened in 2014 and that was the outcome of a process that started in 2010; we have seen it for the first time in 2014 as an impact through social networks, election agenda, voter behaviour and it started changing everything. The data that you collect from the field changes the next day, even during the day. Agenda keeps changing all the time, communications has become more fluid and interactive. It is the social media that is responsible for this."
